The "Dora"
Pod
Easily recognizable to World War II flight
simulator enthusiasts, this Mark III pod
mimics the paint scheme of the FW 190
D-9.
Nicknamed the "Dora" for it's
distinct long-nosed fuselage, the Dora was the German
Luftwaffe's long-awaited challenger to the American P-51
Mustang late in 1944 due to its superior performance
characteristics particularly at medium
altitudes.
This paint scheme features a classic
green mottled camo, black/white iron cross typical
of German aircraft from 1943-44, a
rank-identifying symbol, and yellow trim often
representing flight group colors. |
